What Software Can I Use To Host My Own Blog!

Like free blog hosting there are many possibilities for software that makes hosting your own blog easy.

Most of them are free to use. These include:-

WordPress (the most popular software) Apache, Roller,
Bloxom, Geeklog,Textpattern, Lifetype.

One negative about hosting your own blog and using your own software is that the process is sometimes complicated to carry out albeit probably still less complicated than a conventional html websites, the search engines tend to like blogs as

they are constructed  in a way the spiders  form the likes of Google seem to appreciate meaning it is quite often easier to gain a a high ranking especially  with a niche product on a blog than it is with a conventional web site.

Loading WordPress onto to your own host is now a simple matter of looking for the smiley face after logging in to your c panel with your hosting company. Fantastico is the furthest to left within the popular choices section of c panel, see the screen shot below.

Once you have selected the smiley face of Fantastico choose the WordPress installation option to the left, there are instructions within c panel on how to do this should you be in doubt.

On later versions of c panel you can actually just select the WordPress button, this works the same as going via Fantastico, I have tried it, it does work.
